Satanists unveil design for OK statehouse statue

(CNN) – Satanists have unveiled their design for a proposed statue at the Oklahoma state Capitol, including a place for people to sit on the devil’s lap “for inspiration and contemplation.”
The New York-based Satanic Temple submitted its proposal to Oklahoma officials this month after applying for a spot on Capitol grounds late last year. The Satanists say their statue would “complement and contrast” with a Ten Commandments monument placed at the Capitol in Oklahoma City in 2012.
The Satanists’ proposed monument depicts Baphomet, a goat-headed pagan idol sitting on a 7-foot-tall throne inscribed with an inverted pentagram. In an artist’s rendering provided by the Satanic Temple, smiling children look adoringly at the devilish figure.
“The statue will serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures,” Lucien Greaves, a spokesman for the Satanic Temple, said in a prepared statement. “The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation.”
According to its Indiegogo page, the Satanists have raised more than $16,000 toward their goal of $20,000 for the monument, which Greaves said would “be a historical marker commemorating the scapegoats, the marginalized, the demonized minority and the unjustly outcast.”
The Temple of Satan is less a religious body organized around rituals and regular meetings than a roving band of political provocateurs, according to Greaves. They believe Satan is a “literary construct,” the spokesman said, not an actual being with horns and hooves.

The proposed statue includes quotations from poets Lord Byron and William Blake.
“Prisons are built with stones of Law, Brothels with bricks of Religion” runs the Blake quotation. The 18th-century poet was a Christian, albeit one with a mystical bent and little use for traditional morality.
The statue’s main figure, Baphomet, has long been associated with Satan, Greaves said. In the 12th century, the Knights Templar, a group of Christian crusaders, were accused of worshiping Baphomet in their secretive rituals.
“From the mythology created by these accusations against the Templars, we now have a symbol for Satan pictured as a goat-headed beast,” Greaves said.
Since the 1960s, a variation of the horned goat head has been the official symbol of the Church of Satan, which is not affiliated with the Temple of Satan. The head of the Church of Satan has told CNN he does not approve of the idea of a Satanist statue on public grounds.
Oklahoma state Rep. Paul Wesselhoft told CNN that he doesn’t think the Satanists’ statue will be approved.
“What will disqualify them has really nothing to do with Satan as such; it’s that it has no historical significance for the state of Oklahoma,” he said.
Trait Thompson, chairman of Oklahoma’s Capitol Preservation Committee, said he has not received the Satanists’ proposed design yet. He also said that no applications will be considered until a lawsuit over the Ten Commandments monument is settled.
The American Civil Liberties Union has sued over Oklahoma’s Ten Commandments monument, calling it an unconstitutional government endorsement of religion.
After news broke of the Satanists’ proposal, the state was flooded with requests from religious groups seeking to erect monuments to their own faith, including Hindus and Pastafarians, a satirical religion that “worships” the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
An Oklahoma lawmaker told CNN that the Satanists’ message wouldn’t fly in the Bible Belt state, where nearly two-thirds of the population is Christian.
“Any monument displayed on state property should reflect the values of Oklahoma or memorialize those who built or defended our freedom,” Rep. Bob Cleveland said Tuesday. “In my opinion, this Satanist monument does not meet with the values of Oklahomans.”

Anton LaVey was so impressed by this book that he plagiarized large portions of it when penning his infamous Satanic Bible. Some theorize that the true identity of the ignominious author was the ever-intriguing Friedrich Nietsche.
While this volume is not a Satanic or Satanist book, it is a brutal exposé of Christianity and Christian teachings from an pagan philosophic perspective.

Holy Names by Josh Fallis (again not my thoughts but worth investigation).
The Holy Name Bible was first published by Angelo B. Traina in 1963. This Bible is a reprint of the 1989 version. The Preface at the beginning of the Bible tells many of the reasons for placing the true original names back into the scriptures. The Holy Name Bible was the first English Bible to restore the True Original Names of Yahweh-Elohim-Yahshua back into the Bible. Yahweh is the English transliteration of the four Hebrew characters called the tetragrammaton. Lord is a false title that Bible translators substituted for Yahweh. Halleluyah means Praise Yahweh, not praise the Lord, and it is put back into the places it was taken out. Psalms 146 to 150 originally began and ended with Halleluyah, and it is inserted where it was originally written. Elohim is the original title for the creator, and is placed where the translators put the false title of God. There is no letter “J” in Hebrew, and the letter “J” is only 400 years old in the English alphabet. Therefore it was impossible for the savior born 2000 years ago to have the name of Jesus. The true name of the savior is Yahshua. Yahshua means Yahweh is Salvation. Yahshua is back into the many places that it was taken out. Messiah is also put back into the scriptures where the Bible translators falsely put the title, Christ. The version text is one of the closest to the King James Version as any other Sacred Name Bible. Exodus 3:14 has the phrase, “AYAH ASHER AYAH” , which means, I will be what I will to be. “El Shaddai” is back in the Bible, where it was taken out of the KJV. There are so many other wonderful features too numerous to mention.
Joshua’s Long Day by Josh Fallis (food for thought)
I find these kinds of things extremely interesting to study and ponder. I welcome all thoughts on these posts. The following is not my thoughts or research but a friend whose information always informs or provokes me.
THE BATTLE OF GIANTS, ANIMAL/HUMAN HYBRIDS, & THE SUN STANDING STILL
Point B. Egypt. The Greek historian Herodotus recorded that when he visited Egypt, the priests there showed him an ancient manuscript that told the story of a day that lasted twice as long as a normal day. As they had accurate water clocks that could record time, they could easily record that a long day had taken place.
Point C. Egypt. Fernand Crombette translated some Egyptian hieroglyphics that said – “The sun, thrown into confusion, had remained low on the horizon, and by not rising, had spread terror amongst the great doctors. Two days had been rolled into one…. They made the moon stop in a small angle at the edge of the horizon. In a small angle on the edge of the horizon, the sun itself, which had just risen at the spot where the moon was going, instead of crossing the sky, stayed where it was. Whilst the moon, following a narrow path, reduced its speed and climbed slowly, the sun stopped moving and its intensity of light was reduced to the brightness of daybreak.” The rest of the account records a exceptionally high tide that washed boats into piles of wreckage, drowned fisherman, flooded much of the land, etc.
Point D. India. This is not a record but a prophecy in the Brahman Yast, one of the books in the Indian Avesta. This said that the sun would be commanded to stand still for ten days in about AD 1200. Although the date is completely wrong, the statement may be a reference to the Chinese record of the same event and the ancient historians have them confused.
Point E. China. Gill, writing in 1810, quoted from a manuscript that unfortunately appears to have been lost. This said that in the time of their seventh Emperor, “..the sun did not set for ten days… and though the time of the sun’s standing still were enlarged beyond the bounds of truth, yet it seems to refer to this fact, and was manifestly about the same time; for this miracle was wrought in the year of the world 2554….”
Points 1-5. North America. Several North American Indian tribes have accounts of long nights. The Ojibways, Wyandots and the Bungees tell of a long night. The Omahas tell of the sun being caught in a rabbit’s trap and only released just before dawn. The Dogribs tell of the sun suddenly becoming dark at noon.
Point 6. Mexican Indians. They tell of a long night.
Point 7. Aztecs. They have a legend of the sun not appearing for a very long time, so a conclave of the gods was called and a sacrifice made.
Point 8. Quiche Mayans of Guatemala. ” They did not sleep; They remained standing and great was the anxiety of their hearts and their stomachs for the coming of the dawn and the day…. ‘Oh… if we only could see the rising of the sun.'”
Point 9. Peru. The sun was hidden for nearly 20 hours.
